Employee Benefits

We believe that fair pay is the only appropriate way to compensate employees, and we work hard to make sure our practices live up to that standard.

Franklin's compensation is made up of a base salary or hourly rate and some form of variable pay. To ensure external equity, base rates are benchmarked against outside jobs using national survey data from a variety of sources. Internal equity is managed with a variety of tools including career ladders and pay grades.

Compensation packages include:

Paid Time-Off

We believe in work-life balance for personal health and family relationships. Franklin provides vacation and holiday pay for all full-time and some part-time employees.

Pension

Franklin contributes to pension plans that do not require employee contributions for all full-time employees. Plans offered vary by employment classification.

401(k) Benefits

Franklin also offers a 401(k) plan to which employees may contribute. Employee contributions to the 401(k) plan are matched by the company. Investments are managed by Vanguard.

Short- and Long-Term Disability

Franklin provides short-term disability income replacement benefits to all full-time employees to protect their pay during periods of personal injury or illness. Long-term protection is provided through a combination of employee- and company-paid benefits.

Optional Disability

Employees may also purchase optional coverage to replace up to 60 percent of their salary.

Life and AD&D Insurance

Franklin provides an excellent company paid life insurance plan. Individuals may also purchase additional insurance at discounted group rates.

Tuition Benefits

You can receive 100 percent of tuition and book costs up to a maximum of $4,500 per year. Tuition can be paid in advance directly to the school so you have no upfront costs.

We offer a comprehensive set of health benefits including medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, and flex spending accounts.

Medical Plan

Our Medical Mutual Preferred Providers (PPO) network offers coverage with no deductible. Employees outside of Ohio receive the same benefits but utilize different PPO networks.

Health Savings Account

We offer a high-deductible plan with the option to set-up a Health Savings Account as a tax-advantaged health savings vehicle.

Dental Plan

Franklin offers an excellent dental plan with a choice of providers and employee premiums about 65 percent below the average for all companies nationwide. Our orthodontic benefit will pay up to $2,800 per person to help families deal with the expense of children's (or adults) braces. Ninety-five percent of companies pay $2,000 or less.

Prescription Drug Plan

Our drug plan is administered by Caremark and features the option of 90-day refills at local CVS stores, saving both time and money.

Vision Plan

Our vision benefits are provided by Vision Service Plan. Prescription safety glasses are covered by a company paid plan.

Flexible Spending Account

Our medical spending and dependent/elder care accounts provide easy access to your funds through a debit card. The tax saving from participation is 30 percent to 40 percent for most employees.

Fit Center & On-Site Pickleball Courts

We offer a deluxe on-site fitness center staffed with certified fitness instructors for free use by employees and their families. In addition, Franklin converted warehouse space to add 3 indoor pickleball courts.

Adoption Benefits

Employees can receive paid time off and up to $10,000 toward adoption expenses. Franklin’s adoption benefit has been ranked in the top 100 nationwide for the past 12 years.

529 Matching Pan

We will help fund your child's education by contributing matching funds to your 529 account. A family with two children can receive up to $10,000 in company contributions by the time the second child turns 19.

Child College Textbook Benefit

Eligible dependent children can receive 50 percent reimbursement (up to $500 per employee, per year) for money paid toward college textbooks.

Teen Defensive Driving Course Subsidy

Our "Teen Defensive Driving Course Subsidy" is offered to help reduce traffic accidents. Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among teens in the United States.

Discount of Franklin Merchandise

Employees receive discounts on all wood glues, caulks and sealants purchased from the retail division.
